Troubleshooting

Watch not showing round data

Symptom: The Apple Watch app shows blank yardages or "Waiting for round."

The watch requires a round to be active on your iPhone before it will populate.

  1. Start the round on your iPhone first — tap Start Round in the Round tab.
  2. Once the round is active on iPhone, open the Meta Caddie app on your watch.
  3. The watch sends a sync request to the iPhone and populates within a second.

If the watch still shows blank data after the round is active, force-close the watch app by swiping up from the dock and reopening it.

GPS not loading

Symptom: Yardages are not updating, or the course map is not showing your position.

Meta Caddie requires location access set to Always or While Using the App.

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security → Location Services.
  3. Find Meta Caddie and set it to While Using.
  4. Return to the app and start or resume your round.

If location access is already set correctly, verify that Location Services itself is enabled at the top of the Privacy & Security screen. Also check that the device has a clear view of the sky — GPS degrades indoors and under heavy tree cover.

note

GPS yardages require at least a rough position fix. In areas with very poor GPS signal (deep ravines, dense tree canopy), yardages may lag by a few seconds until the position resolves.

Caddie not responding

Symptom: You tap Ask Caddie or say "Hey Caddie" and get no response, a spinner that does not resolve, or an error message.

Caddie responses require a network connection — they are not processed on-device.

  1. Check that you have cellular or Wi-Fi signal.
  2. If signal is low, move to a more open area and try again.
  3. If signal looks fine, force-close and reopen the app to reset the connection.

GPS yardages, shot tracking, and score entry all continue to work without a network. Only caddie AI responses require connectivity.

Voice not triggering

Symptom: Saying "Hey Caddie" does nothing, or tapping the microphone button produces no listening indicator.

Two permissions are required for voice input: Microphone and Speech Recognition.

  1. Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and verify Meta Caddie is enabled.
  2. Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Speech Recognition and verify Meta Caddie is enabled.
  3. Return to the app.

When speaking to the caddie:

  • Wait for the listening tone before speaking.
  • Speak clearly at a normal conversational volume.
  • Wind noise and cart noise can interfere — the caddie has background noise tolerance but is not immune to it.

If the wake word is not triggering consistently, use the Ask Caddie button as a fallback — it activates the same input path.

Subscription and billing issues

Symptom: The app shows a subscription prompt after you have already subscribed, or you cannot access features included in your plan.

Subscriptions are managed entirely through the Apple App Store.

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Tap your Apple ID at the top.
  3. Go to Subscriptions.
  4. Find Meta Caddie and verify the subscription is active.

If the subscription shows as active but the app is not recognizing it:

  1. In Meta Caddie, go to Settings → Account.
  2. Tap Restore Purchases.
  3. The app contacts the App Store and refreshes your entitlements.

For billing disputes, refund requests, or issues with trial charges, contact Apple Support directly — Meta Caddie does not process payments and cannot issue refunds.

note

If you subscribed on a different Apple ID, you must be signed in with that Apple ID on the device for the subscription to be recognized.

Ray-Ban Meta glasses not connecting

Symptom: Glasses do not appear in Settings → Devices, or the caddie voice is not routing through the glasses.

Ray-Ban Meta glasses integration requires the Eagle plan ($19.99/mo). If you are on the Birdie plan, upgrade in Settings → Account to access glasses features.

If you are on Eagle and the glasses are not connecting:

  1. Put your glasses in pairing mode — press and hold the capture button on the glasses until the LED pulses.
  2. On your iPhone, open Settings → Bluetooth and verify the glasses appear as a paired device.
  3. In Meta Caddie, go to Settings → Devices and tap your glasses to connect.
  4. If the glasses do not appear in Devices, tap Scan for Devices.

If the glasses were previously connected but stopped working:

  1. In Settings → Bluetooth on iPhone, tap the glasses name and select Forget This Device.
  2. Re-pair the glasses from the Bluetooth settings screen.
  3. Reconnect in Meta Caddie Settings → Devices.
